Typical Mostviertel...

Can you imagine anything more wonderful than escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life and indulging yourself alone in the joys of untroubled idleness?

Feet up, cushion your neck and watch the must pears grow over a glass of well-chilled white wine. Enjoying can be so wonderful — especially when, in addition to the sweet dolce far niente in the immediate vicinity, cultural highlights and lively city life provide variety: from the green Wachau to the beautiful surroundings of Grein to the important Baroque basilica in Sonntagsberg.

The Ardagger Abbey

There are many interesting destinations in the Mostviertel near our country inn in Ardagger Stift. Explore the surrounding area and visit Ardagger Abbey with its impressive Margaret Window or Zeillern Castle.

Historic Ardagger Abbey with Margaret Window
The venerable Ardagger Collegiate Church, whose origins date back to 1049 and which was solemnly consecrated in 1063, is home to a remarkable work of art: the Margaret Window from 1230. This precious stained glass window tells the moving story of Saint Margaret and her martyrs in 14 artfully designed medallions. As the oldest of its kind in Central Europe, it serves not only as a historical testimony, but also as a brilliant symbol of the faith and artistry of past centuries.
